How does the Walabot work?
Walabot DIY is a device that uses Radio Frequency (RF) technology to see into drywall/concrete walls to identify studs, pipes, wires, and movement.

How to Calibrate The Walabot DIY
You’ll need to calibrate your Walabot DIY to the specific wall you’ll be working on:
- Place the Walabot DIY firmly against the wall and push ‘Calibrate’.
- Press ‘Start Scan’ and move the device in a circular or figure-eight motion, covering at least 16-inches for the best results.
- Once Walabot DIY familiarizes itself with your wall it can look through it to see studs, pipes, wires, and more.
- Remember to repeat this process if you switch to a new wall
How to Detect Studs and Find Their Center
- Hold the Walabot stud finder against the wall, and press ‘Start Scan’ moving the Walabot DIY in large circular motions to calibrate it.
- Begin with Pan Mode to get a panoramic view of the wall, and a basic overview of where the studs are.
- Switch to Images Mode for a closer look. If a stud was found, you’ll see a stud graphic on your phone.
- To find the stud’s center, switch to Expert Mode. Move the Walabot DIY slowly over the stud, and adjust the intensity bar if necessary.
- Make sure the image is centered, then mark the center of the stud on your wall.
Detect Pipes & Wires With The Walabot Stud Finder
- In Images Mode, Walabot DIY will not show two images onscreen at the same time. You may get a message “Nearby objects detected” or your image will flicker onscreen.
- Move the Walabot DIY around in a wider area to determine if there is a second object.
- If you’re following the path of a pipe or wire which seem to curve, rotate your phone and keep it parallel with the pipe or wire as you continue to scan, as shown in the video.
- To get a better understanding of what’s happening, or more accurately track a curved pipe or wire, switch to Expert Mode.
